A small city and a municipality in the Mexican state of Puebla with a population of 125,000. It is well known for the Nahua festival of El Huey Atlixcayotl and many other festivals. It is also known for its traditional cuisine, which includes famous poblano dishes like chiles en nogada, barbacoa, mole poblano, mole de panza, mole de olla, mole verde, pozole blanco, tostadas, enchiladas, pambazos, tortas, cemitas, molotes and tlacoyos. The majority

of its population is Nahua and around half of the people in the municipality speak Nahuatl, as nearly 80-90% of the population identifies as Nahua. It is also well known for many migrants from Atlixco living in New York, as most Mexicans in New York and New Jersey ( mainly northern queens, Bushwick, Jersey City, Bronx, Sunset Park, etc) come from Atlixco, specifically villages like San Jeronimo, and San Pedro de Benito Juarez.
I can’t wait to go to Tienda Zocalo de Atlixco in Bushwick, they have some of the best Tamales in New York, and their food is just like how it is made in Atlixco Mexico!
