A filler word frequently used in New Mexico by (typically curly-haired) residents of Italian descent. Used to express extreme hunger.

Philip: Are you hungry?
Margaret: Washaaaa!
Philip: Wanna go grab a bit to eat?
Margaret: Washaaaa!
