A person whose job is to answer calls from customers of a small- to large-sized company, usually from within a large contact center (aka call center). They are teathered to a their desk all day via phone headset, and yelled at countless times for things that aren't their fault; because of this, phone jockeys usually hate their jobs. Unfortunately for a jockey, they are are paid well enough that they keep working in the field until they completely burn out, and hate everyone.
I called my power company today, and the phone jockey on the other end was a real jerk.
