Stands for United States of America
. Was initially a colonial territory of Great Britain before declaring independance in 1776. Initially founded on the principle that a central government should only exist to provide security to its people and its borders without intruding on personal freedom and civil liberties. Government was to be focused more on the individual states' powers rather than that of federal ones. Certain recent events probably have the Founding Fathers turning over in their graves, as the great nation they created slowly degenerates into a Police State; something they feared greatly and took great measures to write the Constitution to prevent it. Unfortunately, when the majority of the citizens, and the government, ignore the Constitution, it doesn't help much.
While America certainly is full of ignorant and/or rude assholes, there are still plenty of honest, good, independant thinkers. Of course, many of us are planning to leave the country. To all those that bash Americans, please remember that not all of us are awful and many of us think the same way you do - have gripes with our government, but not solely with us.
Really the "USA PATRIOT ACT," and acronym meaning "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act." Like most of the Bush administration's actions, this one sickens me. Passed with almost no congressional review in the wake of 9/11
(and thus taking advantage of our emotional state), the Patriot Act gives the Executive Branch and law enforcement almost Orwellian powers of investigation and presidence over the Constitution.
If the Founding Fathers were alive today, they'd probably stage another revolution against our current government.

Stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. Similar to the Junior Anti-Sex League in George Orwell's 1984
, it is a federally funded organization designed to distribute misinformation about the dangers of scheduled substances. Unfortunately, the false information is easily absorbed by children's impressionable minds, so that they grow up with a notion that illegal drugs are all bad, which, in the long run, diminishes their ability to question government motive and action, and increases blind faith in the most obnoxious of government propaganda.
I was kicked out of D.A.R.E. when I was 13 because I told the glass that after several millenia of use, marijuana has never caused a single direct fatality.
An insulting end to a conversation.
