Intentionally withholding information (including not doing your best at an activity) in order to surprise someone later.

Examples:
- "Check-raise" in poker (showing weakness despite to encourage someone else betting, knowing you likely have a superior hand). Also known as "slow-playing."
- Implying that you have bad news, then revealing good news
Chuck made a sad face. "I have bad news," he said. After a pause, he broke into a grin. "Just kidding - I got the job! I was sandbagging you."

----------------

Jen checked on the flop and turn, then went all-in on the river. It turned out she had flopped a full house and was sandbagging until the river.
