One who assesses situation and defines goals for analysis and resolution in fresh form then provides the guidance for its implementation.

In this, the architect combines survey and interpretation, art and science, documentation and management, planning and development.

An architect may work with buildings or anything else. Their work is usually conceived as a project and their involvement spans the breadth of that project extending beyond it to its multitude of connections. The title when used alone refers to those trained and registered to deal with the built environment. That title may be linked to any other field of endeavour to describe by association with the nature of the architectural profession, the capability of developing a similar process.
