Not to be confused with someone who simply plays the guitar, a true guitarist is someone who looks at their instrument as though it were a paintbrush preloaded with every color imaginable and then some, waiting to spill onto the canvas known as sound in an array of both erratic and delicate displays. These displays differ depending on the guitarist's motivation and state of mind, as well as their life experiences and musical inspirations.

Guitarists often feel a connection to their instrument in the way that it is an extension of their self; many relate this connection to an energetic flow, as the sounds which emerge from both their efforts and their instrument combined seemingly flow from the tips of their fingers like energy all the way into their veins, connecting them to life itself in an obscure way many find hard to explain to non-guitarists, but understand and relate to instinctively with those of their own kind.

Despite popular belief or bias, not all guitarists are technically brilliant, but the sounds they produce are always full of emotion and most importantly, honesty. The way to tell if someone is a guitarist is their ability to tell a story through their playing in a style that is distinctly their own.
*All examples would be open to debate and personal opinion, thus I'll leave it up to your own interpretation to decide who in your mind is someone you recognize as a guitarist in these terms.

Get the Guitarist mug.
A woman who has grown to entrap the man she's in a relationship with- pulling a 180 from her previously perfect self and morphing into a demon, ultimately resulting in the detriment of the love he once felt for her.

It becomes her nature to tie him down through her highly successful manipulative sensuality, stealing his time from the outside world. Progressively his freedom and freewill diminishes and his social life dwindles, eventually becoming virtually non-existent. His world begins to revolve around only her completely and he becomes withdrawn at the realization that she is all he has left.

This is how she uses her greatest power; in masquerading as an angel and offering him the love he can no longer find from any other source.

Her most common and reliable tactic for coaxing him out of his shell is whispering "I love you" and devoting 100% of her attention to him, making it impossible for him to resist her temptation and what she has to offer. Her temptation is so great that his response is practically automated, much like a robot or machine she operates at will or a drug she supplies to someone addicted to it.

It's only once her angel facade disappears once again that his mental clarity returns and he realizes he's been had, and that it was all instigated by her convincing word of choice.

It's then, time after time, that he realizes her whisper is simply 'the Lucifer.'
If you tie me down and trap me then love is also tied down.
The future is also tied down; it can’t grow anymore.

A rare breed that DOES exist, but is often grossly misrepresented and the term frivolously and wrongly used.
True rock chicks in the 21st century are nearly impossible to find unless you search underground, where they create and play music in bands you've never heard of in places you'd never think of going unless you, yourself, also happen to be a true rocker or an open-minded music hobbyist. Despite being obscure in this way, there are many talented rock chicks in this hidden rock&roll playground who play their instruments well, belt a tune amazingly, and make you move and groove like any band with a penis.

Good examples of rock chicks include but are not limited to: Heart; Bassist D'arcy Wretzky of The Smashing Pumpkins; Lead guitarist of The Runways Nancy Wilson; Guitarist Orianthi who Carlos Santana himself once stated that, were he to pass the torch to any guitarist in the world, she would be it. Because of this he has endorsed her. Drummer Vox Peggy O'Neill of the garage punk band The Gories; Lead singer of Jefferson Airplane Grace Slick; Guitarist Great Kat (aka Katherine Thomas)-- who is known for her extremely technical shredding. Also the ultimate, perhaps most widely acknowledged female rocker to date: Janis Joplin.

Another thing worth noting is Rolling Stone's 2003 Greatest Guitarists of All Time; Joni Mitchell and Joan Jett were listed as two of the most talented rock guitarists in history. Not surprisingly, they were the only females to make the list.
Chris and I went to a show the other day at (insert obscure dive bar/venue where only true rockers and open-minded musical hobbyists choose to go) and saw this really hot rock chick who played the guitar like a pro.

Yeah man, rock chicks are sexy but you rarely ever see 'em.
