"Porco Dio" litterally means "God Pig", and it's one of the most famous Italian phrases, commonly used as an imprecation.

Even though the majority of italian people use it, it is considered by some (especially Christians or religious people in general) a taboo word, so it is recommended to use it only when you know the person you're talking to/with.

There are many variations of the phrase, such as: "Dio Maiale", "Dio Cane", "Madonna Suina", "Porca Madonna" and the not-so-famous "Dio Babbuino". You can even add other swear words to it, even forming a really long "bestemmione".

Porco Dio and its variants are growing famous even among teenagers and children (e.g. 13 year old kids), probably thanks to the influence of the famous Italian youtuber "Blur", who likes to use them in his videos, watched by almost half a million teenagers.
Porco Dio is so famous because of its versatility; you can use it in many different ways:

-Happiness (Porco dio evviva, l'italia ha vinto i mondiali! - Porco Dio, fuck yeah, Italy won the World Cup)

-Sadness (Porco dio, mi hanno lincenziato - Porco Dio, I just got fired)

-Anger (Porco Dio! Ma che cazzo stai facendo, Madonna strozzaprete - Porco Dio, what the fuck are you doing!?)

-Pain (Porco Dio, mi sono bruciato, che male! - Porco dio, I burnt myself, it hurts!)

-Esclamation (Dio Cancaro, come va?! - Dio Cancaro, how are you doing?)

-It is also used to offend or joke with friends (Sei und Dio - You're a Pig), implying that God is a Pig/Dog.
