Burnham on Crouch is a small picturesque town on the River Crouch. The town's rich history goes back in the archaeological record to the Bronze Age and is documented in the town's museum. Burnham was once part of the thriving oyster trade and some of the grand homes built by the local oyster merchants still remain. Burnham has a former WWI airfield as well as a series of WWII pill boxes along its coast line. Burnham these days is a popular sailing destination and with its picturesque views of the river and countryside walks it is very popular with walkers to. The town has several nice cafés and pubs to visit and even a art deco styled cinema.
