Akatsuki, meaning "Dawn", is criminal organization in Naruto. The currently active missing-nins (ninja's that no longer show loyalty to his/her village) consists of Pein/Pain (usually pain in the manga), Konan, Zetsu, Itachi, Kisame and Tobi (whom has described himself as Madara Uchiha and is the real mastermind behind the Akatsuki).
The no longer active/neutrilized Akatsuki members consists of Deidara, Hidan, Kakuzu, Sasori, and Orochimaru.
One of the Akatsuki's goals is to collect the Nine Tailed Demons (Bijuu). Some of which have been placed in human containers (jinchuuriki), such as Naruto and the Kyuubi.
The second is to collect a lot of money to support their organization, by completing missions given to them by current villages that require their strength.
The third and final goal is to dominate the world, destroying all of the villages with the collected demons.
