Taking a character and putting them through physical and/or mental torment and is typically followed by the same character being treated for their traumas. To indicate the characters place in the situation they’d typically be called a whumpee (the character being hurt/comforted), the whumper (the character that causes harm and trauma), and the caretaker (the character designated the helping/healing/comforting the whumpee).

When a character in a movie, show, book, or fanfic is caused physical and mental trauma which usually continues with the character being taken care of. The characters that take place in this would be the whumpee (the character being hurt/comforted), the whumper (the character that hurts the other ore name of the people in the community), and the caretaker (the character that helps the whumpee back to a better health). The community that surrounds this is a very friendly and open community that supports new whumpers,
“The whump in that movie was delicious!”
