Stroke the chicken

To try and persuade or provoke someone to do something when you know that they will definitely not do it because they are too scared.

Abseiling:

Brad - "Come on jack you can do it"
Jack - "I'm scared of heights!"
Brad - "Don't think, just do it"
Christina - "Don't stroke the chicken Brad"
