Publicly Shaming

the act of publicly exposing an individual's wrongdoing or social transgression to humiliate them, with the goal of punishing them or enforcing social norms. Historically, this included methods like stocks and tarring-and-feathering, but today it is widespread online through social media, where it can lead to severe consequences like harassment. While it can sometimes be intended to deter future offenses, it is widely considered harmful and can cause significant damage to an individual's reputation, self-esteem, and mental health.
