Jump shift is basically a way of saying you are breaking up with someone

Dave: Hey
Sarah: Hey, We need to talk
Dave: Huh?
Sarah: I'm sorry David but I'm jumping shift

Dave: What do you mean by that?

Sarah: I'm breaking up with you
Dave: Oh Wow :(
