Beef by association is when you have indirect beef/ issues with a person(s)

Lauren doesn’t seem to like me anymore, I haven’t done anything wrong to her myself but because I am still friends with an ex of hers who she has beef with, she has decided not to like me. I wouldn’t say it’s direct beef, more like beef by association.

When your friends have beef with someone you have no inherent beef with, then you have beef by association.

“Hey i saw ___ at the party last night, good thing you weren't there”
“How do you even stand the sight of them.”
“I have no beef with them.”
“No, you have beef by association.”
