The reason this couple dates out of their age group is because they are both too desperate to find anyone their own age. The man is called the "weiner" and the woman is called the "ham".
A Weiner-Ham Couple can be seen in an example where a boy who is 15 dates a woman who is 18, but won't go out with any other girls who are 15 or below his age. The 18 year old girl also cant get any men her age and abides to go out with this man.
