Thoreauvian Communism

A radical fusion of Thoreau’s ascetic individualism and communist principles: a classless, stateless, moneyless society where people voluntarily limit consumption to live in harmony with nature and each other. Unlike state communism, Thoreauvian communism distrusts all centralized authority, insisting that true communism must emerge from small, self‑governing communities practicing mutual aid and simple living. It rejects industrialism and the cult of progress, aiming instead for a decentralized, eco‑communist world where the only law is the one each person writes for themselves—inspired by Thoreau’s cabin and Marx’s dream of freely associated producers.
