Shoot a new turkey

A variant on "turn over a new leaf", but associated with something that you do periodically, like changing your car's oil, or going to the dentist.

Origin: Every Thanksgiving you have to shoot a new turkey.

I really hate moving, but you just gotta shoot a new turkey, ya know?
