schadenessen

Similar to schadenfreude (shameful joy or pleasure at another's misfortune - German), schadenessen is shameful eating, or eating in an embarrassing way best kept hidden from view. Also can mean guilty eating.

Eating a messy sandwich out of public view to hide embarrassment is schadenessen, or eating take away (take-out) food in a restaurant car park (parking lot) is schadenessen.

I'm off to commit some schadenessen in the vestibule...

Schadenkarma

Experiencing delight at another person's misfortune but not feeling guilty about it as a result of that person's bad karma.

Normally I'd feel bad for being happy that Janet was fired. But she was always so condescending to everyone all of the time that she totally had it coming! It's a clear case of Schadenkarma!!

Schadenberuhigung

Reassurance that comes from the suffering of others. Distinct from schadenfreude, which implies that this suffering confers pleasure. From a compound of German words: Schaden=suffering, Beruhigung=comfort
