Go back to the valley

A jocular, non-serious way of telling someone that they are sucking at something (usually surfing or skateboarding or some such activity). The expression originated among Los Angeles area surfers who would try to intimidate surfers from farther inland (usually the San Fernando Valley) into not surfing at “their” break. Locals could tell a “Val” because people from the valley usually weren’t very good (not having access to the beach as easy as coast residents). Hence the expression becoming synonymous with “you suck.” Was popularized as a catch phrase by several bad Hollywood surf movies (eg Point Break).

Dude 1 tries to kickflip off a curb and falls on his face.

A general expression used to denote someone acting lame at the moment. Made popular by Southern California mall girls in the 1980s for their tribal speak. Also made popular by Shirley the Loon on Tiny Toon Adventures.

Person #1- I'm going to say something suggesting that we have fun today.

Person #2- *smirks*...OK? (whatever)...*smirks*

An expression used to denote someone who is acting lame at the moment. Something that a Southern California girl would say especially back in the 1980s. This was made popular by the Shirley the Loon character in the cartoon Tiny Toon Adventures.

Person #1- We should just have fun today.
Person #2- *smirks*...OK (whatever)....*smirks*
