The "Doom Effect" occurs when a new electronic device, usually targeting consumers, is released and someone ports the id Software classic game DOOM to it. The only stated goal of doing so is to claim that DOOM can run on it. It is not done with the full intent that people will actually play the game on said device, just that it is technically possible.

The Doom Effect usually acts a marker for then next level of experimentation with said device.

is the practice of porting id Software's genre defining DOOM game to any new electronic device with a screen just to prove it it technically feasible.
"The Doom Effect was in full force with this port of DOOM to all Digita OS cameras."

"The Doom Effect struck again, porting the game to yet another unplayable device!
