Silly Season (Formula 1)

A period of time (usually in the months of December and January) where drivers switch teams, usually triggered by a driver Retirment or rookie entering the sport. The term is widely used in the god forsaken F1 twitter and F1 news.
Person 1: Dawg, have you seen the Silly Season (Formula 1) this year?
Person 2: I know, shit is wild.

In politics, the time, especially just before the election, when underliverable promises and wild accusations are the order of the day.
The Left Wing's accusation that the conservative candidate was buying votes is an example of the pre-election political silly season.
