A slang word chavs use to substitute "yeah mate" to make them seem 'cooler' than they already are. Sort of like abbreviating other words by replacing numbers with the original pronounciation.

It usually applies when chavs are excited about something.

Chav 1: Iyt, u gonna bang that chick 2nite then?
Chav 2: Yem8

Normal person: Are you really gonna smoke weed?
Chav : yem8
