When someone rejects you prior to you showing interest, just in case you might like them/ Someone mentioning that they are taken or busy at length when you're having an unrelated conversation.

"What's everyone doing tonight?"
"Oh my GIRLFRIEND and I might have plans, I'm not sure"

Someone letting you down easy when you weren't ever interested in the first place.
