guardian

A woman's chosen ally, usually a man, who goes out of his or her way to protect her from harm and comfort her in times of need. The guardian status is similar to that of a significant other, only without romantic action.

girl - "I don't just need a friend, I need a guardian"
guy - "dont worry, i will protect you always"
