A gaming console associated with microsoft. The name and logo is derived from the playstation controller, where there is an "X", a square or "Box". a circle or "360" and a green triangle that gives the name its color.
or maybe it was that sony decided that the controller buttons had to be derived from the name of the Xbox 360.
