SSTS is Message Board or Chat shorthand for "Snickering Softly To Self" in the same vein as LOL which is message board shorthand for "Laugh Out Loud"
Posting SSTS in a message or chat usually means you are too jaded to LOL and hold everyone else in sophisticated disdain.
