| 22. | camp | ||
|
something considered amusing not because of its originality but because of its unoriginality. According to Susan Sontag, "The essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration. And Camp is esoteric -- something of a private code, a badge of identity even, among small urban cliques." (Notes on Camp) Campy movies: Attack of the 50-foot Woman, Plan 9 From Outer Space, The Tingler, Barbarella
Other examples: Baltimore, The National Enquirer, fake fur, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Tiki, and polyester plaids "I love disco precisely why everyone else seems to dislike it: disco is just so darn campy." |

More specifically, the status quo here being that of Generation X. "tacky" and "dated" are closely related words, but far from being exact synonyms.
2) Anything the speaker doesn't like, which makes it an immensely vague adjective 3) A term embraced by young self-proclaimed non-conformists, to hypocritically distinguish what they've been taught to dislike from what they've been taught to like "Family Ties? That show was so cheesy!"
"Ha ha ha...Cameron just bought these used hair metal CDs he found in the store. The CDs are so cheesy! In fact, we hated them so much, that we kept listening to them last night and singing along until 4 in the morning." |

| 27. | Madeira Girl | ||
|
A school for girls that is half boarding and half day. Yeah, some girls are preppy, stuck up bitches, but that is true for all of the all girls school. Madeira girls have a passion for beating foxcroft girls in everything, but at this point its getting to easy seeing as Foxcroft is full of Madeira rejects. Madeira girls (also known as Mad Girls) have a passion for Woodberry guys and Blueridge boys. Though most people associate them with Prep, Madeira girls tend to dislike that school and its boys. Woodberry Boy: Did you hear that Madeira beat Foxcroft at soccer agian? It was like 10-0.
Woodberry Guy 2: You say it like your surprised.... those hotties never lose to the foxcroft girls... |

| 28. | Bully | ||
|
An individual whom evolution and society both favor because he exhibits selfish, cruel, extroverted genes which will enable to him to successfully negotiate the adult world. Society pretends to dislike him, while hypocritically acting as if we approve of his behavior. Contrary to popular belief, bullies often ARE successful later in life, while their victims are not. After all, it is strength humans value and strength that rules us.
See also jerk and nice guy. Bullies may be beneath contempt, but I also hate to admit that I may envy them.
