An intentional gap in time used to advance a story without filler material. It is commonly used in film, novels, television and video games, to mark the passage without the intervening events being explained in any great detail, or merely in passing.

Timeskips can be as short as a few hours or bridge entire years' worth of happenings. It can also work in retrograde, though this is not as common.
Go watch a movie. Any time the screen wipes from a daytime scene to a nighttime scene in the same area counts as a timeskip.

In a novel or a film, when the action or hero is suddenly transported to another period in history, their past or their future; when two or more stories are told concurrently, but each one is set in a different period of time.
Timeslip occurs in novels such as 'The Historian' and 'The Swan Thieves' by Maria Kostova; 'Holes' by Louis Sacher; 'A Study in Scarlet' by Arthur Conan Doyle; but not 'The Time Traveller's Wife' or "The Time Machine" which are novels about time travel.

Timeshitting

Timesheeting at a public toilet. When a public toilet cleaner ticks off their daily assigned tasks at regular intervals, while reporting any defect or breakdown, on a washroom inspection card.
The poor sanitary conditions at most public toilets worldwide shows that most janitors pay lip service to timeshitting, who are often pissed off by the inconsiderate behaviors of some members of the public, such as squatting with their dirty shoes on the toilet bowl, failing to flush the toilet after use, and stealing toilet rolls.
