With squish being the word for a platonic crush, a squish hug covers both the meaning of a tight, loving hug but also a hug with the wish to show a person love in a platonic, non-romantic way.

It's recommended not to say this to people before hugging them as it would confuse them due to their lack of knowledge about the word "squish" and its use. And they would mistake it for the other meaning of a squish hug, which is related to bosom hug.
