Dmitri Shostakovich was a Russian classical composer who lived through the oppression of the Soviet Union, and lived from September 25, 1906 to August 9th, 1975. He is regarded to have composed pieces which had objected to the tyrannical power of the Soviet Union, which were also known to be some of the most intense in the history of classical, such as his Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth symphonies.
