The Amphibious Fighting
Force of the United Kingdom.
Created in 1664 now amongst the
top two Regiments of the United Kingdom (the other being its rival the Parachute Regiment). Far superior to the US Marine Corps, in that they are Commandos, having completed
32 Weeks of basic training, with a 30 Mile Speed march in 8 Hours (7 Hours for Officers) and other tests of physical endurance.
They come under the command of the Royal Navy, and have in their
history been rewarded with 10 Victoria Crosses.
Nicolaivich got the
definition of the Royal Marines quite wrong.
The Royal Marines were originally called the Duke of
York and
Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot.
