This is what I am. It may sound a little contradictory, but most things in life are. I listen to Ska, Punk, Goth, and Emo music, and dress in a vivid mixture of these fashions. Someone like this will gravitate towards certain kinds of Ska, with a cheerful, lively tune and horns, but with quite morbid lyrics.See some Reel Big Fish and quite a bit of Mustard Plug. Contrary to what many people will tell you, the lifestyles of Gothicism and Emo are not just something that a teenager 'decides' to be. Anyone who decides to be Emo or Gothic is a poser, though they are most likely real if they started out badly, as something like a Chav or Prep, and then slowly progressed toward being a Goth or Emo over a period of years, usually without them even noticing until it's happened in full. And by then it is too late, and they have joined our ranks. A Rudie is NOT the same thing as a Chav or Pikey. They are completely different, and all you need to be a Rudie is a love for Ska and that rude attitude n_n.

A person who in appearance seems to be emo (black hair, black clothes, skinny jeans, etc.) but listens to punk music and personality wise has more in common with a punk.

Emo: looks like all of their friends, listens to the music the radio tells them to listen to, whiny, wimpy

Punk Emo: tough attitude, anti-fascist, educated, original
stranger: hey emo kid, go cut yourself!
punk emo: fuck that, i'll cut you! (and they proceed to do so)

usually wearing black, with heavy black eyeliner. This person (usually girls) will deny themselves as being emo with fury (I'm NOT FREAKIN' EMO!!!!) they mostly just LOOK emo and are generally happy. Most like to stand out, mixing their black with multi colored accessories. These people like music sush as Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and old school avril lavigne, most have choppy haircuts with bangs (many different kinds of bangs from side-emo bangs to front bang)

Punk- People who are rebellious, they don't like being told what to do. They tend to make their own clothes. (Hence the ripped clothing) True punks are non-conformist. So this means they do what they want because they themselves want to infact do that, not because there friends convince them into changing. They want to make an impact on authority to change it for the better. They believe in rebellion, but for a cause thats worth it.

Emo- More of a phase. People who tend to be more emotional and don't handle pain to well. They have a low tolerance for emotions. They don't always wear black, but also don't wear bright colors.

Scene- It's just more of a fashion. They like the goth look, but add neon colors and accessories. (Clip on bow berrets from when you were younger) Almost a Raver/Burner and Goth mixture.
The difference between punk, emo, and scene.

Punks - Not as mean as they look.

Emos - Short for emotional.
Scene - It's just more of a fashion; they like the goth look, but add more color.
