A respectable genre, that combines the heavy musical structure of hardcore with more melodic vocals. Post Hardcore generally contains the same guitar structure as hardcore, for example; the breakdown. This Genre is in no way another way of classifying 'emo'. And doing so would illustrate ones ignorance in relation to this branch of alternative music. Although post hardcore often contains, emotional lyrics.
Some post hardcore bands:
-a skylit drive
-Behind Crimson Eyes (good aussie band)
-Drop Dead, Gorgeous
-Escape The Fate
-The Fall of Troy (experimental)
-From Autumn to Ashes
-The getaway plan (good aussie band)
-Protest the Hero
-Story of the Year
Some hardcore/Metalcore bands:
-Bring Me the Horizon
-Destroy the Runner
-Haste the Day
-I Killed The Prom Queen (aussie hardcore, GETSOME!)
-Parkway Drive (aussie hardcore)
emo kid: omg taking back sunday are so post-hardcore!!
post hardcore kid: *round house kick*
A musical genre that often goes hand in hand with screamo, metalcore and hardcore punk. A main feature of the genre is the contrast of melodic and/or emotional singing with screaming, and sometimes other vocal styles, like whispering, yelling, etc. Fast-paced hardcore/thrash metal guitar riffs and high-pitched, heartfelt melodies are another example of the contrast commonly used within this genre. Kind of like a mixture of emo and thrash.
Some good examples of post-hardcore are:
From Autumn to Ashes
My Chemical Romance (on their first album)
Haste the Day
Post-Hardcore evolved from hardcore punk.
Emo "metal" is most commonly referred to as Screamo or Post-Hardcore.
It is a blend of guitar "riffs" usually written in a minor key to give a strong emotional feeling, heavy screaming vocals, and beautiful (sometimes harmonized) melodic vocal patterns, all intricately orchestrated to sound beautifully dark, usually melodic, and always catchy. Emo-Metal is what happens when metal bands get tired of being poor and want to make money. It is essentially metal's attempt at entering the mainstream.(and uranium hardly ever plays anything remotely close to emo-metal.)Bands, such as UNDERoath or Beloved(R.I.P), have perfected the style with others closely following their lead.
Examples of Emo "metal" include
UNDERoath, Beloved, alexisonfire, Blindside(somewhat), Chevelle(somewhat), Dead Poetic, Emery, Every Time I Die (the new stuff), From Autumn to Ashes, Haste the Day(the new stuff), Poison the Well(one of the pioneers), Protest the Hero, The Refused(definitely a pioneer), Saosin, Thrice(the older stuff).
