parachutist

A troll or other miscreant who jumps into an online group or forum, usually to push a view that is contrary to that prevailing in the group. They usually melt away when asked to provide evidence, citing 'bullying'. Often extremely smug and rather stupid.
A parachutist landed in our FB group today to 'educate' us all about how we are wrong about absolutely everything, ever.

Parchesie Block

When you are driving on a 2 lane road/highway and the two cars in front of you are pacing each other and you are unable to pass them.

A similiar situation to when you are playing the game of Parchesie and you can block your opponent from moving around the board when 2 of your color pawns occupy the same space
Oh man! Look at this Parchesie block! I can't even go around them. One of them better move or I'm gonna explode!

Cell Phone Parathesia

The feeling of a cell phone vibrating in your pocket in the absence of an acutal cell phone vibration. This has also been termed phantom cell phone syndrome.
Frank: "Paul look!! - what are your doing? You're swerving all over the road!"

Paul: "I'm looking for my cell phone - I thought I felt it vibrate. I think it fell out of my pocket somewhere. Help me look!"

Frank: "Look it is in your cup holder and it is not vibrating."

Paul: "Arggh! I keep having these cell phone parathesia attacks. I think it is like phantom limb pain."

Frank: "More like phantom cell phone syndrome. Don't worry she'll return your call."

Paraconsistent Logic

A branch of logic that allows contradictions to exist without exploding the entire system—unlike classical logic, where a single contradiction allows you to prove anything (the principle of explosion). Paraconsistent logic acknowledges that real-world information is often contradictory: eyewitnesses disagree, scientific studies conflict, and your phone's terms of service both grant and restrict rights simultaneously. Instead of treating contradiction as catastrophic, paraconsistent logic develops frameworks that can tolerate inconsistency, extract useful information, and reason productively even when premises don't perfectly align. It's the logic of living with cognitive dissonance, managing competing priorities, and still managing to function despite the fundamental contradictions of existence.
*Example: "She used paraconsistent logic to navigate her job. The company claimed to value work-life balance while expecting 60-hour weeks. Classical logic would say these can't both be true, leading to resignation or breakdown. Paraconsistent logic allowed her to hold both, notice the contradiction, and still show up Monday. The system was broken; she worked anyway. The contradiction didn't destroy her; she just lived with it."*
