Huntsvegas 

Huntsvegas is commonly used in the southeastern region of the United States to refer to Huntsville, Alabama. The first ever use of the slang term was following a Van Halen Concert on Valentines Day (1992) in Birmingham, Alabama. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen was asked where the band was headed to next by a security guard at the event to which Eddie exclaimed, "We're headed up the road to Huntsvegas!" The name stuck and "Huntsvegas" was born!

After the game this weekend, we are all headed to downtown Huntsvegas to keep the party going. You never know what might happen off of Clinton Avenue!

Huntsvegas is slang for Huntsville which is located in Alabama. You will hear mostly hear people who live in Huntsville call it Huntsvegas, its like a mini-vegas.

Huntsvegas / Huntsville, AL

Huntsville, Alabama was nicknamed "Huntsvegas" in 1994 by UAH student Joseph Maddox after he returned from experiencing spring break in Las Vegas, Nevada. When he was picked up from the airport by his schoolmate, he was asked "How was your trip?" and he responded jokingly, "It was awesome, but now I'm back in HUNTSVEGAS... The most happening town in North Alabama!" The joke spread around campus, across town, and eventually outside the state.
