France flight 4590 didn’t cause both Air
France and British Airways to immediately ground and retire their entire Concorde fleet. Indeed the crash played a part, but it was mostly a combination of
high operational costs, high maintenance and restriction of supersonic travel over land due to the sonic boom led to the eventual retirement of the Concorde. 9/11 didn’t
help matters either. They still operated their Concordes for a few years after the crash happened.
