"Dead ahead" means that something or someone is just right ahead (from the location of the speaker).
Ex1: Guy 1: Where is John's house?
Guy 2: Dead ahead.
Ex2: Soldier: Contact! Enemy dead ahead!

The maneuver made when exiting a store involving the swinging of a shopping bag in the path of the electronic eye controlling the sliding exit door in order to open the door micro-seconds sooner than it would have opened had you done nothing.
I always swing ahead my bag at the exit door in order to leave the store as efficiently as possible.
