v. The act of expecting something spectacular to happen only to have a very disapointing and lousy result. It was first said by Homer Simspon while showing his family is "anti-bulglar device" that involved a lot of string and a fish in a bowl. "Watch the fish, Marge. Watch the fish" were Homer's words just before the bulglar went through the mail slot and stole the fish, thus providing a disapointing climax.
My friend wanted to show me this trick on his skateboard but he just ended up making me watch the fish.
