To Sort Someone out would be to deal with a troublesome person who is a perceived problem and dress them down good and firm, this can be done using aggression or force, the intention of Sorting Someone Out would be to reprimand or punish them and make them think twice about being a problem again

To Sort Someone out means to deal with someone who is doing wrong and to reprimand them, tell them off or possibly punish them for doing wrong, then keep them on the straight and narrow
The police had no choice but to send their dog to sort someone out who is a danger to the public... The dog will get the person, attack them punish them for wrong doing so they don't do it again
