The game features the belly-dancing Half-Genie Shantae, and continues on after Shantae: Risky's Revenge where in the end of that game, she loses her magic. She must team up with her rival Risky Boots to stop the evil Pirate Master. It was well received, and many fans of the Shantae franchise consider it their favorite Shantae game.
