A subgenre of emo that was invented when emo turned mainstream. The word Screamo is usually used to describe metalcore and heavy post hardcore that have emotionally charged lyrics, which are often screamed. The emotions used in Screamo songs are usually more angry than whiney, but can still be very whiney. Anger IS an emotion, but MTV seem to think otherwise! Real emo/screamo comes from real emotions, not fake whiney bullshit emotions that the emo singers don't even have.
Mainstream emo fan: How can you diss Pierce the Veil?!?! You must be a heartless screamo fan!
Screamo fan: Fuck your fake emotions you introverted asshole

Get the Screamo mug.
The sound of someone swallowing a microphone whole and pulling it back up out of their throat.
Guy 1: "That band is so screamo."
Guy 2: "I know! I wonder how he gets his mouth so wide!"
Guy 3: "That's what she said!"

A form of music for pussies. The lyrics consist of pointless stories about childhood heroes and the people who listen to it are in love with dinosaurs, thick rimmed glasses and other lame/bogus ideas. Also, the people who listen to screamo think they're "hardcore" and think that: dinosaurs still exist; the actually have problems but they really don't; and that they matter.
I'm going to go listen to Screamo to numb the problems I don't have because I'm a weakling.

Get the Screamo mug.
A label used by posers to call any music that has a vocalist who screams at some point or throughout the song. Screamo is not an actual music genre but a label that a poser will use to describe music because they don't know their music enough to know the actual genre. The real genre may be something like post-hardcore, Metalcore, Deathcore, Heavy Metal, Alternative rock, Glam Metal, Punk-Rock ect.
A poser would say, "I like to listen to Screamo"

People often label bands as screamo when they scream but most of the time they're wrong.

Screamo died in the 90's... RIGHT..
but now new bands started to play like a comercial screamo
that is kinda good actually...
saetia, orchid, Reversal of a man, are/were good screamo bands.
Orchid is actually Hardcore Punk, but fuckin fags keep telling that's screamo when it's not.
Screamo has "turned" into a new genre... that is mixed or confused with Screamocore:
bands as underoath, haste the day(at it's beginnings), shaped by fate, symphony in perfil, norma jean (garbage screamo/grunge screamo) are screamo bands NOW.
bands like atreyu and the bled are "hardcore".

bands like alesana and finch a part from being gay are fuckin pop... those cock suckers suck.
New Screamo is characterized by vocals and some parts of singing, melodic guitars, continous drumming and a elaborated music that put up together sounds better.
And ZAO is NOT A screamo band!. that's hardcore/metal

and please don't fucking mix: emo, emocore, violent emo, southern rock, hardcore, metalcore, WITH FUCKING SCREAMO!
guy #1: I Like Screamo (saetia, orchid)
guy #2: fuck, saetia isn't that good! orchid is ok, but that's old.
Guy #1: FUCK you guy 2
guy #2: no seriously... new-screamo is knida good...
listen to this: he plays some (NS)NEW SCREAMO song.
guy #1: (he realizes that some of the NS is actually good)
guy #2: Fuck YOU ALL!!

Screamo is a music related term which originated in the 80's or 90's. It is generally classified by rough "screaming" vocals. Although it is generally listened to by teenagers and people in their young 20's this type of music can be listened to by people of any age or background. Many bands who are not technically screamo (Take Sleeping With Sirens for example) are often confused or labeled as screamo due to the occasional scream, even though it is not their main type of music. Screamo itself is normally not a genre of its own but will be characterized in many genres such as hardcore or punk rock.
Hey James what kind of music do you like?

I like bands which have a bit of screamo in them like The Devil Wears Prada
