for the love of God, come on.
i mean, everyone makes fun of 'scene' kids or 'emo' kids for comforming to something that is supposed to be a symbol of non-comformity. You are all contradicting yourselves. Your saying that you want to hurt/kill/piss on?!? someone for the way they look? Has the human race honestly regressed that far back? take a look at movies like - mississippi burning, the pianist or to kill a mockingbird. Your acting the same way as the people in the movies. Your critisiing someone for their beliefs. I do not identify as 'emo' 'indie' or 'scene' but i do own vans slip ons, i do wear tight jeans, and i do listen to bands that the majourity of my classmates have not heard of. But just because my jeans are tighter than yours does not make me a lesser human being, or a 'fag' as you so delictaly put it. someone listens to obscure bands? Why the fuck do you care? get a FUCKING hobby. please. people who listen to unpopular music do so, for the most part, because music is a huge part of life for them, and seeing it slowly stripped down and sold for ratings waters down the concepts that the music originaly held. That is why they prefer to listen to bands that you dont know about, so that they DONT become like my chemicle romance, fall out boy, ect. If you still thnk that they are conforming, than think of this. People who go to AE or AF ae spending ALOT of money on the clothes they buy. Kids who go to vintage stores are buying cheap and for the most part really nice clothing. everyone, whether you want to admit it or not, has before, will in the future, or is copying someone. It doesnt make you a bad person though, it makes you a human, cause the sad fact is, that there is no originaly left, everything has been done. So if kids want to hold on to what they see as the last shred of originaly left in modern society, let them. and fuck off.
uneducated person's rant -
emo boyz and scene kids are such FAGS. with their girls jeans and eye liner. They are all trend followers! i want to kill them all because they listen to obscure music and wear clothes that fit well. i will also make durogatory comments about the size of their genitals, specualte about their sexual preferences and continuely judge them as a whole instead of everyone at a time. HARDXCORE

EVERYTHING YOU HAVE READ ABOUT SCENE KIDS IS OUTDATED. It's all written in 05 through 07, and everything's changed. no more brutal and no more gross hair, etc.

NEW KIDS:
_wear plaid shirts, band shirts, v-necks
_skinny jeans, cute mini skirts
_flats, converse, vans
_dont normally tease their hair. the older ones (16+) do sometimes, but it's not huge or obnoxious.
_hair is dyed any color, brown and red are becoming popular
_coontails are not a necessity. some have them just for fun
_still go to shows but some just go in random public places and act stupid
_some have myspace names involving band names/songs (bring carly the horizon; hey jake, whats your name again?)
_ages 14 to 20+
_it's cool to be a photographer, site model, and band member (deathcore, screamo, and metalcore. anything else isn't scene. it's just normal)

NEW SCENE BANDS
_The Devil Wears Prada
_Bring Me the Horizon (obvz)
_Brokencyde
_Millionaires
_A Skylit Drive
_Sky Eats Airplane
_3oh!3
*anything crunk, or with a dude screaming incessantly. occassionally electronic or acoustic weasels its way in.

New scene kids dress kind of indie now. Some still look brutal but without the crazy hair. Piercings are still common, as is MySpace usage. Photoshopped pictures no longer look as overdone, depending on who the person is. No one worships scene queens. In fact, most of the new kids have no idea who they are. Gore, hello kitty and diamonds are not obsessions. The new thing to have on your profile is a random photography picture or a phrase proclaiming personal beliefs, or saying something along the lines of "I'M NOT EMO OR SCENE, IM JUST MYSELF".

THE POSEURS:
_look emo
_have bad dye jobs
_wear thick gross eyeliner
_pierce their lips crookedly and get them infected
_listen to emo music (MCR, etc)
_have pages loaded down with gloomy bear and stupid dinosaur/robot junk. "rawrrr" is a common phrase.

_myspace name involves an EMO BAND (my chemical katie; lorrie! at the disco) or its a brutal rip-off (sarah sinister, victoria vicious)
_ages 10-13 usually (some kids within those ages are legit though, dont discriminate against age, ya digg?)

My advice: don't read the entries for scene unless it's from 2008 or 2009. otherwise, you'll end up looking lstupid & everyone will ask what happened to your hair. but if you wish, go ahead and look completely br00tal and hXc. personally, i love that style. not everyone can pull it off though, including myself.

BOTTOM LINE: KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING BEFORE YOU CHANGE. obv.
scene kids have changed a lot since their official inception into teenage culture in the year 2004.

all try to be individuals but, end up looking like a fucking fags.

try to impress fellow scene kids by doing stupid shit.

usually listen to devil wears prada or any other gay shit.

usually X-ian or pretend to be atheist.

usually have lip piercings.

usually smoke cigarettes at public places (movies, shows, anywhere with a lot of people) to show off.

probably say fail!, or party foul a lot.

probably wearing neon colors.

most of the douche bags wear a jacket with gym shorts and classic vans.

go to shows to mosh, smoke and listen to pig squealing.

scene girls are good to fuck(if they don't look like shit).

think they're the shit because weak minded kids dont think for themselves these days and think its cool to be a gay little scene.

most of em smoke and don't even know how.

think they're hardcore or think they're better than you.

most think they love Hitler and think theyre nazis

dont like obama

just fucking douche bags

usual (myspace, facebook, aim, ect.) name x(blank)x
ex. xtimmyx

think they're artistic

(hope they all die a slow death)

a scene kid is a lot like an emo (:
though they are not to be confused. scene kids have teased ( backcombed) hair and side bangs or full bangs but they must be choppy. hair is the biggest part of scene.
most the time with a neon streak most favoured is pink.
scene kids LOVE anything to do with childhood ie. dinasours, spiderman, hello kitty. any disney characters and will often watch babys shows.
scene kids dress as an emo would but adding some bright colours to it. unlike emo's they would wear leopard print and zebra print, a bit more imaginative.
they like to use random phrases and words like RAWRRR, NIGZZ, STELLARR, often adding letters.
scene kids are usually very preppy and happy. dont be suprised if you seeee a massive group of scene kids with about 3 of them skipping and shouting, and acting very childishh.
anyone can slit their wrists or self harm so im not guna say that emos self harm and scene kidss dont cuz i noee some scene kids who do self harm.
they wear vans or converse mostly neon or dark colours that are bold compared to their bright clothes.
most wear pearl necklaces some can wear lots of multicoloured necklaces. :)
and bracelets...
theres more to scene kids than most think. scene kids can act like theyre totally ecstatic unlike everyone else when their life is worst.!
scene kid

There is a general misconception as to what a "scene kid" is. Let's break it down, shall we? "Scene" is a fashion. It erupted from the music scene, derived from emotive hardcore, punk, screamo, softcore, ect. Just like retro or vintage, scene is what you wear, how you wear your makeup, and how your hair is styled. Therefore, a scene kid is a person who dresses in scene couture. We all know the norm: skinny jeans, vans, animal print shirt, long necklaces, lip rings, heavy eye makeup, layered, teased, and multicolored hair. Sadly, many younger teens will load themselves over with black eyeliner and sidesweep their bangs and run around saying, "Rawr I is a scene kid kthnxbai." Many people consider scene kids to have a certain attitude and be vain, but that isn't the case. Whereas that may be some, remember that anybody can dress scene. What you wear won't affect your personality.
Look at that girl with pink and black hair--she's on her way to a show. Looks like a scene kid.

"Scene" is a trend that started online. The trend is taking over myspace. They look similar to emo kids but to them being called emo is offensive. Typical Scene Kids in generall usually have double pierings such as; snakebites, spiderbites, hips etc. The girls usually wear extentions, multicolored and or striped. The boys have hair that covers atleast one eye. Oh and I almost forgot SKINNYJEANS. Don't dare to call yourself scene with out a pair. They claim to be original yet they all look exactly the same. But just looking like a scene kid isn't enough :o You must go to several shows and throwdown in the moshpits. Not only do the scene kids look the same they listen to the same music. Bands like; The Devil Wears Prada, Jefree Star, The Medic Droid, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Blessthefall, Suicide Silence, Greely Estates, Millionaires, A Skylit Drive, Breathe Carolina, Bring Me The Horizon, etc. Basically Screamo, electro and a little Grindcore. Back to the whole online thing, most of them are sXe (STRAIGHT EDGE) Their goal is to be the next kiki kannibal. They rely on myspace and photoshop to make them famous. Most of them have the same poses in their pictures. The M3T4L hand, being in front of random buildings and Mirror pictures are quite popular. A high friend count and professional looking pictures will get you into perfection trains which will boost your friend count. If you have over 10k(10,000 friends) you're doing pretty well. SCENE KIDS ARE ADDICTED TO MYSPACE.
This is an example of two scene kids having an online convo;

XXDAISY DESTRUCTIONXX: OMFGZZZ D000D, I just got us tix to the BMTH show <333

XRyan RAWRRX: AHH! M3T4L! :DDDDD

XXDAISY DESTRUCTIONXX: I know right, Im the sexx :]

XRyan RAWRRX: bahaha...W4W?

"Scene" is a sort of subgenre, a mixture of emo and preppy. You can usually spot a scene kid from miles away by their bright, attractive eyeliner/hair colors. Scene boys and scene girls both wear tight girl jeans; usually of the drainpipe variety. Scene girls are often found in attractively arranged if not totally random outfits, which consist of tight jeans, cute tee shirts or thermals with things like hello kitty, the teenage mutant ninja turtles, or power rangers on them. Vans slip ons, usually checkered, make up the majority of their footwear, as well as ballet flats, and just plain flats. Occasionally, wedges, too. Their outfits vary from person to person; vintage sweaters and vests are also popular, as well as tight, gray or black zip up hoodies. And band tee shirts are a must, mostly for metal bands, however, with incomprehensible writing on them and some drawing of a person being eviscerated, and the like. White studded belts are also popular. They also wear large, chunky necklaces, pearls, et cetera.

For boys, it's pretty much the same, however, instead of flats, they're inclined to wear skate shoes, and large "gangster" hats are popular as well. Both genders tend to have lots of piercings, such as a septum, monroe, and the less popular septum. Mostly, they've got a piercing on one side of their lip, and gauges in their ears. Scene boys hair is more often a plain color, such as black or red or brown, as opposed to the myriad of colors that girls can covet. Both usually possess choppy, over-one-eye hairstyles, though they sometimes have mod bangs, too.

Boys can wear eyeliner, though it isnt as encouraged as it is in the emo culture, and girls wear as much or as little as they please. Scene girls are also pretty obsessed with designer labels, such as Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna. Also, both can be seen wearing clothes from stores such as Hollister and Abercrombie. Sidekick 3's are very often used by scene kids. Scene boys are usually a lot less nice than scene girls, though, obviously, it depends on the person. Straight edge is becoming less and less trendy, though a lot of scenesters still are. Christianity and vegetarianism are both pretty trendy, however.

Emo kids and scene kids are completely different, and are not to be confused. Scene kids are more into the 'local scene,' and to the majority of them, music means everything. They'll always be spotted at local shows, concerts, coffeeshops, etc. Scene girls are usually obsessed with fashion, and fashion magazines (i.e. Vogue, and Teen Vogue). Fake eyelashes are also highly associated with scene girls, and they often shave off their eyebrows and pencil them on. Why, you ask? Nobody knows. False nails, and being extremely pale are pretty scene as well. Also, scene kids will always, always, always deny that they are scene. That's one of the many ways you can spot a poseur. After all, real scene kids are too scene to admit that they're scene.

Energy drinks are also highly popular with them, as well as Glaceau Vitamin Water. They also are prone to saying things such as "wdup blud," and "lawlz." Pretending to be a gangster is a big part of the scene image, and many scene kids even listen to rap. But it doesn't make them any less scene! Scene kids always have a myspace, or a xanga, or a facebook, or all three, as well. Their myspace display names are usually something along the lines of "______ Murder," "______ Homicide," etc, etc, though it varies with the person.

Myspace pages of theirs are often filled with songs that used to be popular, (i.e. Tainted Love, All the Small Things, and old rap songs-- you get the picture) and numerous photographs of their favorite designer logo, their alcoholic beverage of choice, and their cell phone. Hello Kitty is also highly popular with girls, as well as coloring books, black and white photographs, and a cityscape photograph. For boys, they often have pictures of admiring scene girls who make them signs, banners for bands that they like, and an energy drink they love.

in conclusion, scene kids r rad! lolz.
Morgen Murder: wdup brah?
Catherine Catalyst: nadaaa grrrl. sup @ you?
Tony Terror: hey grrrlz!
Morgen Murder: omfg, he is soo hawt. lawlz.
Catherine Catalyst: I KNOW! LOL!
Tony Terror: yaaaa baby. r u going to the show tonight? it should be hella tuff.
Catherine Catalyst: like duh!!!! <3333<33
Morgen Murder: lol, what a scene kid!
Catherine Catalyst: IK! but he is too scene to admit it!

Some people on here are just taking things way.too.far!
i know at least 20 what you would call "scene" kids and only about 3 of them actually call themselves scene. This is because the way they dress and the music they listen to has absolutely nothing to do with following a fasion. Its what they like and what appeals to them.

Everyone should get to know a "scene" person before judging them because behind the hair and makeup are really nice people who are so disgriminated against that they tend to become very judging of other groups of people and many of them DO cut themselves and write songs and listen to depressing music because it helps them fight again all their problems.

Different people have diferent views on life and different ways of dealing with things when they go wrong. Different people have different ideas of good music and different ways of appreciating this music. Different people have different ways of dressing.
Althought these people are different on the outside maybe you should get to know them first before judging them.
The scene kids

Piercings: lip (usually on side), flesh tunnels in ears and sometimes septum piercings.
make-up: not ALL scene guys wear make-up. But the ones who do usually wear black eyeliner and maybe pink around the eyes.
Accessories: Bandana around neck and on wrist or Pink or black sex bracelets.
