The sensation that an amputated or missing mouse (even a wireless or optical mouse) is still present, causing the body (typically the mouse hand) to respond accordingly in conjunction with the movements of other body parts in the process of typical computer operation. Similar to phantom keyboard syndrome, and the rare and far more critical, phantom monitor syndrome.
