Kaavya are a species of unidentified creatures who have evolved to live around humans. Other than their obvious name, a kaavya can be recognized by their unusually vain character. A Kaavya usually is found in the company of humans due to their lack of ability to fend for themselves in the wild. However, in recent years, multiple Kaavya’s have been found. Therefore they have equipped themselves with methods to defend themselves.

Whenever a kaavya feels like it’s under threat, it tells a bad joke which renders the humans around it incapacitated and brain dead.

In April 2006, Kaavya's first novel, How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life, was published. Shortly after publication, the Harvard Crimson printed allegations that the author plagiarized passages from two novels by Megan McCafferty. The subsequent storm of national publicity led her publisher, Little, Brown and Company, to withdraw all editions of the book, derailed plans by DreamWorks SKG to develop Opal Mehta into a movie, and encouraged readers to identify possible additional plagiarism within its pages.
On May 2, 2006, Michael Pietsch, Little, Brown's senior vice president, released a statement saying "Little, Brown and Company will not be publishing a revised edition of How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life by Kaavya Viswanathan, nor will we publish the second book under contract."

Kaavya is beautiful both physically and psychologically. a girl that would be there for anyone. Totally relaxed; reserves judgement until she learns more about a subject pertaining to the person, but will maintain an open mind. She will never be dull; even on the most depressing days, she will always find a way to make you laugh. although he is a really lovely person, he can be a little uneasy at first. Extremely attractive and brilliant, she can know what's going on just by looking at you and will make you feel good about yourself. She has this weird appeal that allows her to pull off any thing last-minute. Even if you don't love yourself, she will always be there for you. As a plus point total memester and very hilarious
