Capital city of Connecticut. Abandoned after 5pm when all the insurance company workers take their daily white flight back to Farmington, Glastonbury, and Avon, where they are far less likely to get shot or carjacked. Hartford is a city so sad that it lost its one professional sports team when Whalers hockey left. A city so sad that *I* had to be the first one to define it. If it wasn't for the Wadsworth Atheneum or the insurance companies it wouldn't be on the map.
Me and my UConn friends go to Hartford on Saturday night to bar hop. Make sure you avoid the north end unless you want to get jumped.

A city that is known mostly as the capital of Connecticut and "the Insurance capital of the world". With companies like Aetna and Travelers having their presence here, I guess that's a valid statement.

But it's also funny. Because this is a city where you are very likely to damage/lose your car, your workplace, apartment, and your life. So yeah, you might need insurance.

Overall it's not a city where you would go shopping with your girlfriend or take your family for dinner.
Dumbass: "Sheeit... some mofukkuh got shot at Hartford yesterday and I was around da corner. I couldn't see it, shee!!"
Me: You're fucking stupid.

The capital city of Connecticut. Known as "the hartbeat" or "the beat" by it's residents. It's famous for two things, the whalers and insurance companies, however the whalers left and so did a bunch of insurance companies. nowadays it's pretty dangerous after about 6:00 pm and there's a good chance of being mugged.
Hartford calls its self the rising star of the east when really it's crashing pretty bad.

i live just outside hartford and have only been there 10 or 15 times because it's pretty dangerous.

Capital City of Connecticut. Also called “The Heartbeat” or the “Beat” for short. Third smallest city in the state in terms of Population but 1st or 2nd in crime rate. The North end is populated by primary African Americans, while the South End seems to have more Hispanic people. The south end is more known for their “Business” while the North has generally been the more dangerous. Heroin/Fentanyl and Crack sales are abundant, as the south end is almost an open air market. With some of the most corrupt police forces in the state, and the same failing policies for decades, the City is unlikely to change.
Person 1: “you can give me a ride to Hartford?”
Person 2: “yea but don’t do any funny shit, because if 12 pull us over you know we goin down for some bullshit

Hartford is the capital city of Connecticut and is home to about 121,500 people. Hartford is located in north central Connecticut and is halfway between New Haven, CT and Springfield, MA. Hartford is a city that hit hard times like almost every other city in the country due to sprawl, the automobile and the interstate.
Hartford is turning around though and currently there are more then 2 billion dollars worth of redevelopment projects underway citywide including the addition of 1,000+ residential units to the central business district. These projects include a new convention & hotel, science center, the conversion of adabdoned buildings into condos & apartments, the construction of a 36 story apartment tower and the conversion of a former department store into a community college.
Hartford has always been a city that has been a center of busines. The city has been called the insurance capital of the world and to this day the city has a strong insurance company presence as companies continue to sign new leases in the city.
Lastly Hartford is rich in history and culture and is home to the Old State House (one of the oldest in the country), the Mark Twain House & Museum, Wadsworth Atheneum (oldest public art museum in the country), Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and the Butler McCook House. For the performing arts there is the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, the Hartford Stage, TheaterWorks, the Webster Theater, Dodge Music Center and the Hartford Civic Center. And lastly for education the city is home to Trinity College - a well know liberal arts college, the UCONN School of Law, UCONN School of Business, Capital Community College, the Hartford Seminary, the University of Hartford (on the Hartford/West Hartford line) and the private grades 6-12 Watkinson School.
Hartford is the capital city of Connecticut that has a strong corporate presence, a lot of history & culture, and a growing restaurant/bar/club scene.
