A sports fan that never sticks with one team. His/her loyalty is always in question because he/she only pulls for the hot teams at that time. Dylan was a Stanford fan last week but because they lost, he now pulls for Oklahoma State which makes him a Fairweather Fan.

Liking a team only when they do good, and drastically hating them when they do bad. It's like liking the good weather and hating the bad weather. Ryan's complaining about the (insert team name here) again because they lost a game, such a fairweather fan.

Most often the term is used incorrectly to describe a fan who is extremely critical of their team during unsuccessful periods. Wow, Bill really is a fairweather fan.
