A term used to describe a situation or instance where a group of people (racial, ethnic, sexual, etc.) is discriminated against (deliberately avoided, insulted, harassed, assaulted, etc.) because others associate it with the coronavirus disease, COVID-19. May also be known as COVID-19-related hatred or COVID-related hatred.
Americas & Europe: Coronavirus-related hatred affects Asians because people associate Chinese and non-Chinese Asians with COVID-19. The same issues apply in Australia and New Zealand.

Africa: Chinese inhabitants face increased stigma, and the ethnic Chinese group is the subject of coronavirus-related hatred.

India: Anyone that "looks Chinese" or vaguely East Asian are at increased risk of assaults, because East Asian-looking people are associated with COVID-19 in India.

China: Despite the virus having originated in China, many people in China associate dark-skinned people with COVID-19. Discrimination against dark-skinned people (especially black Africans) have risen as a result. Xenophobia has also risen, as Westerners risk being insulted or even assaulted for "helping perpetuate" the virus.

South Korea: Given a recent COVID-19 outbreak in an LGBT-oriented nightclub, any LGBT people (particularly gay people) face severe harassment whether or not they were involved. To a lesser extent, ethnic Chinese people are ostracized (an issue occurring in Japan as well).

No matter who you are or where you are, coronavirus-related hatred helps no one. Whether it manifests as racism, ethnic biases, or other forms of discrimination, it encourages divides among people and doesn't help fight COVID-19. Since coronavirus-related hatred come in many forms, we must all work together to not only fight COVID-19 but also the increased stigma that people around the world face.
