whenever someone is speaking in generalizations, there is always an exception present. Based on the principle that there are always people around you that think that the norms do not apply to them, because they are special and one of a kind.
person to a group: "I read that you can't sneeze with your eyes open"

After making the statement, most people in the group will nod their heads in agreement, remembering the last time they sneezed...while there will be one person who claims that either they or someone they know always sneezes with their eyes open - That is the Arredondo rule.
