To pretent to want to pay the check at a restaurant or bar, insincerely. He "Aligator armed" the check. Example is to reach out, but only so slightly to try to get the check but have it taken away by someone else at the table that will pay.

The lunch check comes and someone doesnt want to pay.

Tom gets aligator arms everytime we go to lunch.
